The Mallory Gaston
Growing up in Oakland, California, The Mallory Gaston distanced himself from his birth name, Mallory. In fifth grade, Mallory was involved in numerous altercations with the Oakland public school system. This had a huge effect on him and instead of letting it break his spirit, Mallory did something different. While many could have given in to the temptations and pitfalls brought by life’s hardships, Mallory was not like his peers. Even as a child, he knew that he wanted more out of life. Not backing down, he embraced the challenge brought on by conflict. Through this tenacity in action, Mallory gained the respect of his peers. Mallory became known by his middle name, Bartrell. He learned to fit into society in his own way. He had begun to search for his place in the world. Deep down inside, he knew that he had something he could offer the world. A legend was about to be born.
After a decade of hustling in the flatlands of East Oakland in the 80s and 90s, Mallory decided it was time to break free. There was an entrepreneurial spirit alive deep within him. In 2000, now an adult, Mallory started his career in the competitive world of fitness. This was his element, and he quickly excelled as a master trainer and co-founder of Body Mechanix. At this point, Mallory decided to once again be known by his first name. The name that was once associated with childhood problems is now associated with the man who is training the San Francisco elite.
The name Mallory stands for perseverance, passion, tenacity, and the ability to abide on multiple planes of existence. Mallory’s wisdom is now put to use in changing and improving the lives of all those who desire his mentorship. Mallory believes in the importance of creating and building one’s community, and the power of teaching one another. Mallory’s brand isn’t about him. It’s about us. My journey from the corners of East Oakland to the high-rises of San Francisco was a long and tricky path. Having a great work ethic and hunger in my belly kept me on track.
